Can my husband take time off to look after our baby?

Yes! In 2015 the government launched Shared Parental Leave, which lets you share your leave with your partner.

How does it work? If you finish your Statutory Maternity Leave early then your husband can take the rest of the 52 weeks as Shared Parental Leave (SPL). Translation: You can transform your maternity leave into shared leave.

There is also the option for you both to be off at the same time and both get paid!
